Maria João Sequeira

Maria João Sequeira has a degree in Economics (Catholic University of Portugal, 1979) and worked as a policy analyst at the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) for 13 years, where she coordinated the Studies and Planning office. Her work at FCT has focused mainly on the analysis of R&I policies (SMART Specializations Strategy, R&I Foresight, Science4Policy, …) and participated in international fora and in several ERAC groups as an expert.

In the area of Gender, she was the Portuguese alternate Delegate to the ERAC Standing Working Group Gender in Research and Innovation, participated in the drafting of the Ljubljana Declaration, under the 2 TRIOS of Presidencies of the Council of the European Union,  she was the main Delegate to the ERA Forum Subgroup Inclusive Gender Equality in the ERA, and she coordinated the Task Force “Inclusive Research Careers” in the remit of the GENDERACTIONplus project.
