Anne Pépin joined the Gender Sector of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) in 2017 as a senior policy officer, with responsibilities for developing gender equality policies at the European Research Area level and dedicated provisions and strategic programming in the Horizon Europe EU framework programme for research and innovation. She leads the Gender Sector since 2023.
She is on leave from her permanent position as a research director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) where, from 2012 to 2017, she was heading the Mission pour la place des femmes au CNRS – the strategic unit in charge of gender equality policy at CNRS. Among her responsibilities at institutional, national and European levels, she has coordinated several EU-funded projects devoted to the promotion of gender equality in higher education and research organisations, including the GENDER-NET ERA-NET.
Anne Pépin holds a PhD in electronics from the Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (Paris, France) and was awarded the CNRS Bronze Medal for young researchers in 2003 for her contribution to nanotechnology.
